Here are some ways to help you determine if your micro-pump needs cleaning:

– Traffic change
– When the flow rate of the micro-pump is significantly reduced, it is likely because the water inlet, impeller or pipe is blocked by debris. For example, a pump that used to pump 10 liters per minute can now pump 5 liters or less. This may be due to the accumulation of sediment, fiber and other impurities in the water inlet filter or impeller, affecting the normal suction and discharge of water.
– For some micro-pumps used for aquarium circulation filtration, if you find that the flow of water is significantly weaker and does not provide enough circulation for the aquarium, it is an indication that the pump may need to be cleaned.
– Head change
– Lower head is also a signal. If the pump can lift the water to a certain height under normal working conditions, such as a lift of 3 meters, but now it can only lift the water to about 1 meter, it may be because the impeller is blocked or there is a foreign body in the pump chamber, resulting in a decrease in the rotation efficiency of the impeller and cannot effectively push the water out. This is commonly seen in miniature pumps used in small fountain installations.

– The normal operation of the micro pump will emit a relatively smooth, slight operating sound. When you hear the sound of harsh, friction or impact of the pump, it may be that there is a foreign body between the impeller and the pump body, or the impeller appears loose, wear and so on. For example, it may be that small stones in the water are stuck between the impeller and the pump housing, or the blade of the impeller has partially broken after long-term use, colliding with the pump body during rotation.
– For the diaphragm type micro-pump, if you hear an irregular “cluck” sound, it may be that the diaphragm is attached with impurities, affecting the normal reciprocating movement of the diaphragm.
III. Appearance
– Observe water intake
– Check the water inlet for obvious debris accumulation. If the inlet screen is seen to be covered with algae, sediment or other fibrous material, it needs to be cleaned. For example, in micro-pumps that use pond water, after a certain period of time, the filter screen at the intake may become covered with a large amount of green algae, almost completely blocking the intake channel.
– Check the drain
– If there are impurities flowing out of the drain or poor drainage, such as intermittent drainage, it also indicates that the inside of the pump or drainage pipe may be blocked and need to be cleaned. In some micro-pumps used for irrigation, the pumps and pipes need to be inspected and cleaned if there is dirt buildup around the outfall or if there is plant residue coming out.
